Pulwama, Aug 06 (KNO): The residents of Pakherpora area on the border of Pulwama and Budgam districts here have demanded that the under-construction building in their area be designated as a Mini Secretariat. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) locals said that establishing a Mini Secretariat would significantly benefit the region by improving administrative efficiency and accessibility. The current plan to use the building for a higher secondary school has raised concerns among residents, who believe that educational infrastructure should be developed in existing facilities or new locations better suited for schooling purposes, they said. Sajad Ahmad, a local resident said that after the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pakherpora was relocated to its new premises, the residents of Pakherpora had reiterated their demand for the transformation of the old hospital building into a mini-secretariat. He said that the aim behind the demand was for a centralized location for various government departments, including the Block Development Office (BDO), Naib Tehsildar (NT) office, and the Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Irrigation subdivision office. He said residents face inconvenience as some offices, such as R&B subdivision offices, are situated as far as 11 kilometers away from the locality. Shabir Ahmad, another local resident, said that the site where the building is being constructed is not suitable for the school as it is a crowded place, making it less suitable for educational purposes. He said that more suitable sites are available for the school building, allowing the building at an old hospital site to serve its potential role as a mini-secretariat. Locals said that they have already brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times who have assured that necessary steps will be taken in this regard. They requested higher ups especially Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard—(KNO)
